On Gear Live: Alpine partnering with Nokia to integrate smartphones into cars

OlsenboyeDespite their fashionista statuses, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s friends helped them design their latest fashion range.

The 23-year-old twins - who already have two clothing lines, and Elizabeth + James - recently launched their new junior range, Olsenboye, and wanted input from their peers.

Mary-Kate said, “We’ve been working with our friends who are our age and in art school.”

Ashley added, “They’ve helped out with the art on the web sites and doing the commercials and the videos.”

The line - which is aimed mainly at teenagers, with most price tags under $50 - is sold exclusively at JCPenney and the girls are thrilled to be working with them. Mary-Kate told People, “All the people at JCPenney have totally embraced all of our friends that have now participated in these projects and it’s a lot of young talent and I think it’s really exciting.”

Ashley also revealed she is looking forward to next season’s looks as she’s not a huge admirer of the over-exaggerated shoulder look: “I’m a fan of strong shoulders, but I think the extreme shoulder, to me - it takes a very special person to pull it off. And I’m kind of ready to move on from that.”

Suri Cruise in a stylish polka dotted dressMake no mistake - is her own stylist.

The three-year-old tot, daughter of Tom Cruise and , dresses herself and chooses all her outfits. Dad Tom said, “Just so you know, she dresses herself. She picks out everything on her own.”

Mum Katie - who has her own clothing line Holmes + Yang - admits she’s a huge admirer of her daughter’s sense of fashion: “She has such cute style.”

Although Suri chooses her own outfits, it was recently reported Katie spends $25,000 a month on her daughter’s clothes as she wants her to be the “most fashionable kid in Hollywood.”

A source said, “Dressing Suri in amazing outfits has become Katie’s favorite hobby. She’ll scour the internet and Beverly Hills shops to find items and get inspiration for different looks. One of Katie’s favorite looks is 80s-inspired - she puts Suri in leggings and long sweatshirts or bright dresses. Suri loves getting involved and choosing things too.”

H&M Holiday 2009

Sequins, glitter, and knits galore! H&M has launched the images featuring a look at their Holiday 2009 collection. The international retail chain seems to have the best of both holiday worlds—the glitz and glamor as well as the traditional, sweaters and mittens (Gap much?).

The campaign (more pictures after the break) features models Sasha Pivovarova, Missy Rayder, Malgosia Bela, Ben Hill and Ryan Thomas.

Katie Holmes and daughter Suri in matching outfits

Judging by a photo taken of Katie Holmes and her daughter Suri, the actress-turned-designer wasn’t kidding about that children’s collection; I was hoping she would at least spare the kids.

In the picture, Holmes and her mature daughter stepped out in matching red dresses from her range, Holmes & Yang.

I’m still in shock that Maxfield actually chose these designs over Victoria Beckham’s creations. Holmes could at least try to make her outfit look good (Suri, on the other hand, looks adorable)—is her stylist too busy sewing more ugly products?

Angelina with her stylish daughters Shiloh and Zahara

Stylish mother of six Angelina Jolie knows how to dress her kids, too. Jolie was spotted taking her daughter Shiloh to The Gap in Santa Monica, where she splurged on adorable clothes from Stella McCartney’s line for the retail giant.

“She purchased two complete outfits right off the mannequins, head to toe, the shoes and everything. Then she bought a couple Junk Food t-shirts, one was a Superman emblem and a bunch of Gap watches for all of the kids. She probably spent close to $500,” a source revealed.

Five hundred dollars spent for 6 kids? That’s not bad at all! It’s nice to see that their wardrobes seem to be of the modest fare. I can’t wait until we see pictures in their adorable clothes!

Stella McCartney's line for Gap KidsApparently, muses tend to run in the family around the fashion industry. Take, for instance, Matthew Williamson and his inspirational mother.

For vegetarian designer Stella McCartney, it’s her four year-old son Miller!

“My eldest son is just starting to have a mind of his own. I was going to do pirates and he said: ‘Nah, don’t do pirates.’ It suddenly dawned on me that this wasn’t just about what parents want to put on their kids, but about what kids will choose themselves. I needed to make every piece [of clothing] one that my children wanted to wear.”

Who knows—perhaps we’ll be seeing Miller creating ranges in the future. Those McCartneys are an imaginative group, after all.

The 70-piece collection, which is priced from $14 to $128, hits select Gap stores on November 2nd.

Donatella and kids

In very strange but charitable fashion news, Versace’s latest handbag collection has been designed by children.

Iconic fashion designer Donatella Versace has teamed up with a group of youngsters to create a charitable new accessories range and allow her to help those less privileged.

“When you are successful in your life, you want to give back,” Donatella said.

Avril Lavigne for Abbey DawnQuite possibly now-single Avril Lavigne wants her new fashion line to be tight-fitting.

The “Girlfriend” singer launched her clothing collection, Abbey Dawn, on Monday and revealed that she wanted the designs to be as feminine as possible:

“I have a very particular style. I want it to be available to a lot of girls, and I want it to be affordable. What’s really important to me is that everything fits well and is well-made, so I try everything on and approve it all. I’m making sure that I think people in their 20s are going to wear it because it’s going to be a sexy fit, not just, ‘Oh, T-shirts and hoodies.’ The hoodies are slimming. It’s not a thick, bulky material.”

The collection, which caters for all age groups, is named after Avril’s childhood nickname, and she says that it was inspired by her own style: “It has a lot of hot pinks and blacks and stars and purple and zebra. Basically, everything I wear.”

Katie Holmes set to unveil Katie & YangRemember when Katie Holmes appeared at the Tropic Thunder premiere in that awful dress she designed? Well, prepare to bear witness to a matching clothing line resembling that dress.

Despite mixed feelings among fashion blogs regarding her fashion ventures, Mrs. Cruise appears to think that Miuccia Prada rubbed off on her enough during those Miu Miu ads to put out her own line.

Katie and her stylist Jeanne Yang will be putting out an entire collection most likely in similar taste to the star’s style. The “premium designer” line, labeled Katie & Yang, will include both women’s and children’s wear.

Said to be full of “classic fare,” the clothes will be sold exclusively at Maxfield in Los Angeles this fall.

With her acting resume, stint on Broadway, performance on So You Think You Can Dance?, and now this designing gig, Katie seems so confused as to what her calling in life truly is.

Britney Spears in Candie's Ad

Avril Lavigne’s clothing line isn’t the only that can be purchased at Kohl’s. The department store is also the place where Candie’s - Britney Spears’ fashion sponsor - is exclusively sold.

While we’re used to seeing the singer dressed in less clothing, these pics are for the company’s fall campaign…so she kinda had to dress for the weather.

Britney also sports clothing by Candie’s in her new video for “Radar.” You can view that clip plus several other pics from the print campaign after the jump.
