Gisele Bundchen Tops Valuable Model List

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Models, News

Gisele Bundchen during a Victoria's Secret showMove over, Heidi Klum—Gisele Bundchen has been named the world’s most valuable model.

The Brazilian beauty, who is currently expecting her first child with husband Tom Brady, topped The Daily Beast’s annual list, which took into account multi-year contracts, advertising campaigns, runway appearances and magazine covers.

Gisele beat Kate Moss into second place, while others in the top 10 included new mother Adriana Lima, Christy Turlington and Miranda Kerr.

The website said of the list, “We considered four tenets to illustrate a model’s visibility and success - multi-year contracts, advertising campaigns, runway appearances, and magazine covers. Those with retail licensing deals, including Kate Moss and Gisele Bundchen, got credit for those estimated annual earnings, as well. Annual income from contracts, primarily negotiated by large cosmetic companies and Victoria’s Secret, were weighted 40 per cent because they are the most difficult to get, bear the largest salaries, and indicate a very high level of success.”

Alec Baldwin Thinks About Plastic Surgery, Too

Alec Baldwin shares the Holiday EW cover with Meryl StreepWhile it’s obvious that women of all ages—no matter how gorgeous—talk plastic surgery, actor Alec Baldwin doesn’t quite rule out the trend nor fear his age, either.

“I’m not saying I wouldn’t do something! I intend to do something. I probably will. Let’s put it this way: I wouldn’t rule it out because… You don’t think I wake up every day and wish I looked like this and this and this? But I can’t let that bother me.”

Considering he’s 51 and hasn’t gone under the knife just yet (at least, that we know of…), I would say that he’s doing pretty well on his own. Granted, he’s no Robert Pattinson, but the guy has aged better than some of his fellow peers (Mickey Rourke, anyone?).

And hey, he’s got some assets he still admires! “I have a great ass, if I may say so. That’s a part of my body that needs no surgical enhancement or rearranging.”

Baldwin’s female It’s Complicated co-star, Meryl Streep, has a different opinion on cosmetic enhancements: “Well, if you’ve ever even contemplated that stuff and looked at what can go wrong in any of those magazines, it’s terrifying! Every part of your life is chronicled, [so] if something mysteriously looks better, [everyone will notice].”

Elizabeth Hurley Admits Maintaining Beauty is Hard

Elizabeth Hurley opens up to Harper's BazaarFormer model and actress Elizabeth Hurley admits it’s harder to look good as you get older.

The 44-year-old, who hosted Harper’s Bazaar‘s “Fabulous At Every Age” party in New York last Thursday, says it’s important for women over a certain age to spend more time on their appearance as they need to make more effort to look stunning.

“When you’re older, you have to have your hair cut regularly, you have to pluck your eyebrows regularly, you have to stay slim, and you have to exercise more. So if you don’t give up, you stand out more.”

The Estée Lauder beauty also denied she had undergone plastic surgery to maintain her looks: “Don’t be ridiculous, I look so much more than that and, no, no surgery, not yet. I really don’t have a beauty regime. The only thing I do - obviously - is pluck my eyebrows because I would look like Denis Healey if I didn’t. There is a huge change in your metabolism after 40, and for the first time ever I am having to watch what I eat because I’m quite greedy by nature.”

Kardashian Sisters Plan Skin Care Collection

Kardashian sistersContinuing on with their entrepreneurial empire, the Kardashian sisters are launching a skincare line.

As well as signing a five-year contract to design clothing for fashion retailer Bebe, the reality family are moving into beauty.

Mum Kris Jenner revealed, “Me and my girls are working on our on skin care line that should be out in the spring.”

Her daughter Kim, 29 - who shot to fame with the family on the show Keeping Up With The Kardashians - will also launch a perfume for beauty store Sephora in February: “I am so excited about my fragrance. The scent took me a long time to perfect and it’s finally here.”

The Kardashian family are not the first celebrities to create their own skin care range. Last year, Heidi Klum launched her line In An Instant, while model Miranda Kerr releases her organic skin care range, Kora, in Australia this week.

Quote of the Day: Robert Verdi on Food

Stylist Robert Verdi

“There are different cultural norms and values and beauty identities, and the fact that thin is in — who cares? It’s why I stopped eating. I think food is for fat people and poor people. Rich people don’t eat. They get dressed up and go shopping.”

Miranda Kerr Works Intensely

Miranda Kerr at a Sydney photo shootAs if we didn’t know that models have quite the workload, Miranda Kerr wants to proclaim that no one else could handle her “intense” schedule.

The Australian supermodel, who is dating actor Orlando Bloom, has revealed her grueling workload can takes its toll on her health and private life.

“I work six days a week, 15 hours a day—and that’s not a joke. I’m generally in two different countries a week. And anyone else who had my schedule would probably fall apart. To be honest with you, it’s really intense. People don’t realize the extent of how hard I work, because they see it as just glitz and glamour. At the same time I am so grateful for it all, but it doesn’t give me a lot of downtime.”

Miranda sparked health concerns after being pictured looking shockingly frail at a swimwear shoot in Sydney last week. The 26-year-old star, who is planning to release a book on nutrition this year, says she stays in shape by following a diet based on her blood type.

Rimmel Recruits Coco Rocha and Georgia Jagger

Georgia Jagger for RimmelStep aside, Grandma Kate Moss—rock daughter Georgia Jagger and it girl Coco Rocha are signing their faces away to represent cosmetic giant Rimmel London.

Set to front the Spring/Summer ‘10 campaign, the pair sound like a bit of an odd coupling; however, senior vice president of global marketing at Coty Beauty Stephen Mormoris doesn’t think so:

“We needed a wider palette of faces to show the makeup results of our new products… Rimmel embodies the London look, which is very resonant with young people all over the world who look to London as a centre of multiculturalism and freedom of expression.”

It’s obvious why Rocha was brought on board; Jagger was picked for being “edgy, experimental and provocative.” I’m sure it has nothing to do with her parentage…

Mormoris also revealed that the company plans to bring three more models to the campaign by January—guaranteeing that each will be of different ethnic background. We’ll be keeping you to your word, Mormoris.

Kate Moss Saved Money on Make-Up

Kate Moss in Calvin Klein's Obsession campaignApparently make-up artists need to save money, too—Kate Moss wore only moisturizer for a Calvin Klein photo shoot to save money.

Renowned makeup artist Kay Montano has revealed that she only used a lightweight base on the supermodel when preparing her skin for a perfume campaign in the late ‘90s because she had been urged to be frugal by bosses.

“Yes, the recession came and after that fashion and beauty became rather more pared down. One of my first jobs after moving to New York was to make up Kate Moss for the Calvin Klein Obsession fragrance campaign, and I just used moisturizer. She looked absolutely perfect.”

Kay, who has worked on London Fashion Week since it began 25 years ago, made a name for herself as the woman behind the dramatic make-up of the ‘80s. The British beauty expert said that her trademark smokey eyes were inspired by many of the decade’s biggest stars.

“My icons were women like Debbie Harry, make-up artist Barbara Daly—who did all of the Stanley Kubrik films—Jerry Hall and a makeup artist called Yvonne Gold. Yvonne had big, blonde dreadlocks and worked with Vivienne Westwood and her partner Malcolm McLaren who at the time had a new-wave band Bow Wow Wow. A signature technique of hers was to use gold paint over the Cupid’s bow, which makeup artist Pat McGrath uses a lot now.”
