Lady Gaga Expected to Wear Donatella Versace at Wedding

Lady Gaga and Donatella VersaceLady Gaga is expecting to wear a Donatella Versace wedding dress. The pop star - who has been with Taylor Kinney since September 2011 - is reportedly keen on a design by the Italian, and asked her to create a black and gold silk gown with diamonds in the bodice.

"Gaga's spending millions on her wedding to Taylor Kinney and Donatella Versace's designing a typically over-the-top dress which on its own will cost thousands. She thinks white is cheesy and wants black and gold silk with all these crazy removable bits," a source told The Sun.

The extra "bits" include a removable skirt and train, which would then be converted into a separate gown for the ceremony. "The Edge of Glory" hitmaker and the Vampire Diaries actor have had trouble finding time for the wedding among the singer's heavy schedule but a break from recording and touring should allow a date to be set for the summer.

It's also reported they want to get married in New York to allow her grandmother Angelina Germanotta to attend.

Versace to Revamp Lady Gaga’s Tour Wardrobe

Lady GagaLady Gaga has asked Donatella Versace to reinvigorate her tour outfits. The "Judas" hitmaker has revealed the Italian fashion designer will be giving her stage outfits a "face-lift" when her Born This Way Ball world tour reaches North America in January.

"THE BORN THIS WAY BALL is getting a face-lift for America. I heard rumors @Versace IS CUSTOM DESIGNING ALL THE CLOTHES AND NEW LOOKS. (sic)" she wrote on her Twitter.

The 26-year-old eccentric pop star is a huge fan of Versace's striking designs, and she recently stepped out in the iconic safety-pin dress first worn by Elizabeth Hurley in 1994. Donatella is known for giving garments a feminine and risque flair, so Gaga - who has memorably worn a meat dress and worn a Kermit the Frog outfit - can expect some revealing new stage outfits to show off her curvier figure.

Elizabeth Taylor Stole Donatella’s Ring?

Donatella Versace, Elizabeth Taylor, and Gianni Versace

Elizabeth Taylor once stole a ring from Donatella Versace.

The late actress - who was renowned for her love of fine jewelry - once asked the Italian designer if she could try on a ring she was wearing, but then never gave it back to her. "My brother collected vintage jewelry and I was wearing a ring that he'd given me - Elizabeth said in this extraordinary breathy voice, 'Darling I love your ring, may I try it?' And she didn't give it back! She put it on and breathed, 'Oh darling thank you, you didn't have to do that!' But I hadn't!" Donatella said.

Donatella Versace Wants to See the Queen in Leather

Donatella Versace Queen Elizabeth

Donatella Versace wants to dress Queen Elizabeth in leather. The fashion designer would love to work with the 86-year-old British monarch by updating her look and giving her something she's never seen in.

"If I could dress anyone I'd like to dress the queen - she can handle anything. I'd put her in black - she never wears black - and add a little leather, maybe. A little rock 'n' roll," she said.

Donatella Versace Loves the ‘Desirable’ Christopher Kane

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Designers

Christopher Kane and Donatella VersaceDonatella Versace believes Christopher Kane is a success because his designs are "desirable" to women.

The Scottish designer has been working with Donatella's fashion house since he consulted with her for the first time in 2006, and she thinks he does so well because he knows what women are looking for in clothes.

"You know, I'm so proud of him. His last collection was amazing. Such confidence and creativity. Christopher's clothes are so desirable. He loves women. To combine that newness with clothes women desire makes him in another league - even an aristocratic fashion league, I should say," she said.

Christopher has been creating clothes for the Versus (Versace) line since 2009, and Donatella - who has previously compared him to her late brother Gianni Versace - reveals she loves his work because he so "respectful" to the Italian fashion house: "He is so respectful of the brand. He looks through the archive but always movies it forward. He listens, and people who listen will have a big future, success in life."

Versace to Return to Couture Catwalk

VersaceVersace is returning to the couture catwalk.

The Italian fashion house will stage two shows at Paris' Ritz Hotel in July and the venue choice has always held a special place in Donatella Versace's heart. The hotel was the site of her brother Gianni's last runway show in 1997 before his death, as well as many other Atelier Versace shows until the line was suspended in 2004. The hotel will close on July 31 for extensive renovation following the show on July 1, and Donatella is pleased she can show there before it shuts.

"It is with tremendous emotion that I return to the Ritz where I shared so many special moments with my brother. The closing of the Ritz Paris for two years represents the end of an era but also the beginning of a new one, so to be able to show Atelier Versace there one last time will be a memorable milestone," she told WWD.

The label returned to the schedule last season to show its Spring/Summer 2012 collection via a presentation.

Christopher KaneChristopher Kane has ruled himself out of taking over at Christian Dior.

The Scottish designer - who was one of a number of names pinned to the role formerly held by John Galliano - has revealed he has not been approached but is "flattered" people believe he could do the job.

"While it is incredibly flattering that I could be considered for a role at a house such as Dior at this stage in my career, I can confirm that I have not been approached. I am focused on developing my own label and my ongoing collaboration with Donatella Versace for Versus.''

Raf Simons is firm favorite to take on the highly-prized position at the French fashion house following his departure from Jil Sander, but as yet it has not been confirmed.

Cindy Crawford’s Daughter Fronts Young Versace Campaign

Kaia Gerber for Young VersaceCindy Crawford's daughter Kaia is the new face of Young Versace.

The 10-year-old child of Cindy and Rande Gerber has been praised by the brand's creative director Donatella Versace, who says the camera loves her: "Like her mother, Kaia has a very special gift. The camera really, really loves her. Having Cindy on-set for the shoot took me back to all the amazing Avedon shoots we worked on together. It was such a special treat watching Kaia walk in her mother's footsteps!"

Cindy is also delighted her daughter is following in her footsteps because she has such fond memories of being model for the Italian fashion house: "I'm so thrilled that Kaia was chosen to be part of the first Young Versace Campaign. I have so many fond memories of the times I spent with Gianni and Donatella. There is something so very special about the House of Versace."

Cindy recently claimed models had a hard time getting work as they now had to sing and act in addition to looking their best. "I just saw the CoverGirl commercial with Taylor Swift and I thought, 'Wow, it is so hard for models to get a job these days.' You have to sing and act, too. There doesn't seem to be as much work specifically just for models."

Christopher Kane Praises Donatella

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Designers

Christopher Kane and Donatella VersaceChristopher Kane has praised Donatella Versace as a great mentor. The Scottish designer has collaborated with the acclaimed fashionista for the Versus collection and explained he would love to "download her brain" because she has such a wealth of fashion knowledge.

"I learned a lot working for Donatella and for such a huge fashion house. She is really easy to work with. I come in with the ideas, my sketchbook, research and we go through it, one piece at a time, and she always gets it. She is open-minded, and there's nothing she hasn't seen. It would be great to download her brain, to plug Donatella in and get all her information."

After designing a clutch bag to accompany his fall collection, Christopher revealed he now plans to create an entire handbag line. "We did a great little liquid clutch reminiscent of pencil cases I had as a kid. This made us think that we should build on that platform, and create that bag that is a great classic and can go from season to season."
