Madonna Sued Over Hard Candy Name

MadonnaMadonna is being sued over her fitness brand.

The "Hung Up" hitmaker has been accused by beauty and fashion company Hard Candy of maliciously stealing their name to sell exercise DVDs and apparel and the firm have filed a lawsuit in federal court for trademark infringement and unfair competition.

The case claims the 55-year-old singer began selling her goods under the Hard Candy name in 2011 despite a previous rejection from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. "Defendants' actions have caused and will cause Hard Candy, LLC irreparable harm for which money damages and other legal remedies are inadequate. Unless Defendants are restrained by this Court, Defendants will continue and/or expand the improper activities alleged in this Complaint and otherwise continue to cause great and irreparable harm and injury to Hard Candy, LLC," federal court papers obtained by RadarOnline.com state.

The lawsuit also targets Madonna's manager Guy Oseary, but claims the "Material Girl" singer is "the driving force behind the infringing activity, taking credit herself for the initial selection and subsequent expansion."

Lourdes Leon and mother Madonna with Kelly OsbourneMadonna has helped Kelly Osbourne drop a dress size.

The pair have previously worked together on the "Girl Gone Wild" hitmaker's clothing range Material Girl, and the singer has been advising the Fashion Police host on diet and exercise to help her shed weight she gained earlier this year.

"Madonna's helped Kelly get back to a size eight. Kelly does the Ballet Barre workout five days week - she loves the dance element and can see how it's changed her shape," a source said. "Madonna's also encouraged her to eat in a more macrobiotic way - cutting out wheat, artificial sweeteners and cheese. Kelly's avoiding carbs to beat bloating and has been eating boiled eggs for breakfast, grilled chicken salad for lunch and fish with steamed greens for dinner."

Kelly is not the only member of the Osbourne family to recently go on a change of diet - her mother Sharon is on the low-carbohydrate Atkins diet so she can shed some excess weight.

The face of the Fall 2012 Material Girl marketing campaign said, "I had so much fun shooting this campaign." The photo shoot took place at the rehearsal for Madonna's MDNA tour at Nassau Coliseum in May.

She added that her experience growing up on tour with her father enabled her to channel what Madonna and her daughter Lourdes has in mind for the line of clothing's new season: "I spent a lot of my childhood backstage hanging out around amps. That was where we chilled when we were younger. So this photo shoot brought back a lot of memories. I have always admired Madonna's music and style; she is constantly reinventing herself."

Madonna Praises Duchess Catherine’s Style

Kate Middleton and Madonna in Stella McCartneyMadonna is a big fan of Duchess Catherine's style. The "Material Girl" singer praised Britain's Duchess of Cambridge for the way she manages to always look elegant, but never stiff or overly formal with her fashion choices.

"She is a lovely girl with a great sense of style. Her wedding dress by Alexander McQueen was very beautiful. I like her choices. She's elegant and still knows how to have some fun. I'm a fan of her style."

Catherine and Madonna's fashion sense is so close, they have even been spotted in the same dress - with the former wearing a salmon-pink satin dress by Stella McCartney to a Sunday dinner in Berkshire, southern England, which Madonna had previously donned three years ago at the Cannes film festival.

Speaking this weekend at the premiere of her new film W.E. - Madonna's directorial debut, about the scandal of King Edward VIII, who abdicated from the English throne to marry US divorcee Wallis Simpson - the singer also said she appreciates how the English royal family have relaxed in their attitude since the time when her film was set: "The freedom that Catherine has and the freedom the royal family has now is nice and is refreshing. It's too bad that Edward VIII didn't have that same kind of freedom back in 1937 to make his own decisions and to be the prince of the people, which Prince William is allowed to be. I like how modern they are now."

Is Kelly Osbourne the New Face of Material Girl?

Kelly OsbourneKelly Osbourne is reportedly set to be unveiled as the new face of Madonna's Material Girl clothing line.

The Fashion Police presenter will take over the role from Gossip Girl star Taylor Momsen after the brand recently launched an appeal on its website, asking fans to choose their preferred celebrity ambassador for the label.

"Kelly's always been a massive fan of Madonna and recently heard Lourdes idolized her, which she was very flattered by. It's a huge coup," said a close friend of Kelly's.

The new appointment could help to heal a rift between Madonna, 52, and Kelly's mother, presenter and rock manager Sharon Osbourne, who is renowned for her sharp tongue. "She is full of s**t. I would like to punch her. She's a tart," Sharon said of Madonna in 2005.

A source, however, revealed Sharon will support Kelly if she does take on the modeling gig: "Sharon and Kelly are very, very close and she will support her daughter with all her heart, like she does all her children. If Kelly ends up modeling for Material Girl, it will be great."
