Nicole Richie Isn’t Fussed by Labels
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers
Nicole Richie isn't bothered about fashion labels. The fashion designer - who is renowned for her sense of style - says she chooses clothes on whether she likes them not by how much they cost.
"I shop at more expensive stores and I also shop at thrift stores. Most of my vintage T-shirts and peasant dresses, they're like $10. There's not a specific store that I go to or any label that I'm obsessed with buying," she said.
Nicole - who is a mentor on reality TV show Fashion Star - says she often falls in love with certain items of clothing and finds it difficult to get rid of them: "Fashion is a form of self expression and it's really about how an article of clothing makes you feel. If I like a dress that I'm wearing, I will wear it until it's falling off of me and someone's like, 'You've got to take off that dress.'"
The mother-of-two recently revealed how she lets her mood dictate her style. Talking about choosing clothing for her role as a mentor on Fashion Star, she said, "It all depends on my mood for the day that I'm filming. I don't have my outfits planned out at all, it really just depends on my mood and where I am on that day."

Nicole Richie: I’m No Fashion Icon
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, Health & Beauty
Nicole Richie admits she's no "fashion icon" as far as her family is concerned.
The Winter Kate designer may be a mentor on American show Fashion Star, but says when she's at home, she is anything but.
"I'll tell you right now that no one's calling me a fashion icon. Now that you mentioned it, I'm going to start requesting that Joel start calling me that once every day, at least."
The 30-year-old former party girl - who is also the brain behind accessories line House of Harlow - has now branched out into fragrances with her new scent set to hit the stores in autumn.
"I knew exactly what I wanted to do because my mum would wear a combination of a few different oils and a few different lotions. It's a smell that's very special to me and reminds me of my mum," she told USA Today, explaining her perfume choice.

—Brad Goreski is leaving Rachel Zoe. Don’t worry for him, though—the split is supposedly amicable.
—Terry Richardson has recruited Crystal Renn for a French Vogue shoot which calls for her eating various foods in overly sexual poses.
—Speaking of Terry, Marvel’s Uncanny X-Men #528 comments on a Barry Richardman whose name is not the only thing the character has in common with the controversial photographer. According to the two X-Men, Richardman’s “art is cheap, exploitative porn,” and “what he does to models is borderline assault and unquestionably cruel.”
—Lady Gaga attended her grandfather’s funeral on Monday looking surprisingly normal (as opposed to the last family event she attended—her sister’s graduation).

Joel and Benji Madden Know What Women Wear

Good Charlotte
band members Joel and Benji Madden have teamed up with Macy’s American Rag to design a capsule collection… for women. Apparently, if you’re engaged to a stylish celebrity fashion designer like Nicole Richie, you automatically know how to dress a member of the opposite sex and get her to buy the clothes you “designed.”
“I don’t care how a girl dresses, nothing is sexier than a girl who is confident, feels good about herself, and does things her own way… I love it when a girl can take simple basic pieces and wear them with her own style,” Joel said.
The line, titled Mad Picks, features ripped denim and boho-inspired items (shocking) and is due in select Macy’s stores on August 25. Check out another image of Mad Picks after the jump.

Nicole Richie Makes Handbags From Hats
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, News
Talk about creative—Nicole Richie turns hats into handbags.
The reality star - who is currently promoting her House of Harlow 1960 and Winter Kate Fall/Winter 2010 fashion ranges - says she often gets inspired by seeing what other people are wearing and then giving items her own unique twist.
“I was walking around the other day and I saw this woman wearing this great hat and I thought actually that’d make a really good bag so we turned it upside down and now it’s a great looking bag.”
Nicole - who has two children, Harlow, two, and nine-month-old Sparrow with fiance Joel Madden - also revealed she has had to alter her dress sense since becoming a mother to make it practical yet still stylish: “I’m a busy working mother. I’m all for what’s comfortable but I don’t think people today make enough effort with what they wear. At the same time I don’t want to have to get out of bed early to decide what to put on. My jackets are my favorite part of my collection because you can just throw one on over jeans and a vest and it looks like you’ve made an effort.”
Glee’s Lea Michele Channels Nicole Richie
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Celebrities

Last night at a Glee event in Los Angeles, star Lea Michele shocked the paparazzi for several reasons:
- She sported bangs.
- She exposed a lot of cleavage.
- She did her best to not look like Idina Menzel (another party attendee) by stealing items from Nicole Richie‘s closet.
While I have to give Lea props for separating herself from her character (and for looking fabulous while doing it), am I the only one thinking she might be trying a bit too hard? You can see another picture of her after the jump and decide.

Nicole Richie Wants You to Feel Naked
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, News, Sales

Newly-brunette Nicole Richie wants her new clothing line to make women feel as if they’re naked.
The socialite says her new fashion range Winter Kate, named after her two-year-old daughter Harlow’s middle monikers, was inspired by what she feels comfortable in, which is mainly light-feeling outfits. Nicole - who has her own jewellery line, House of Harlow 1960 - said:
“I 100 per cent designed everything. Colors, cuts, fabrics. I would never put my name on something I wouldn’t wear myself. That’s why it’s taken me this long to have my line come out. I do respect designers that go in it for the long haul and don’t do things that are trendy. I’ve always been one to dress for comfort. I’m not one to wear something that I don’t feel good in. Comfort was really important for me, especially doing a spring line. For me, I really don’t like to feel like I’m wearing anything.”

Always seeming to keep themselves busy, the Kardashian sisters are now launching their own jewelery range.
Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian, who already have their own clothing and skincare line, have announced they are creating an accessories collection for the Los Angeles brand Virgins, Saints + Angels next April.
Kim Kardashian, 29, wrote on her website, “The collection embraces our unique style… Romantic, edgy, and classic vintage… or at least we hope so. Our Armenian culture is very important to us and we tried to incorporate that in the jewelery also.”
The reality TV family previously signed a five-year contract to design clothing for fashion retailer Bebe, as well as a skincare line which is due out next year.
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians stars are not the first celebrities to create their own jewelery line - Nicole Richie already has her own accessories range, House of Harlow 1960, as well as recently launching her own womenswear label for contemporary woman.

Nicole Richie is jumping on the Kardashian sisters’ bandwagon, creating a credit-crunch friendly jewelery collection for Bebe.
The reality TV star - who recently gave birth to her second child, Sparrow James Midnight Madden, and has a 21-month-old daughter Harlow with partner Joel Madden - has managed to find time to produce an exclusive collection of House of Harlow 1960 jewels for the retail chain’s online store.
The jewelery - which comes at an affordable price, with items ranging from $38 - has a hippy vibe and is in a similar style to her fashion line, House of Harlow 1960. The 28-year-old socialite also teamed up with the retailer to create a $25 bracelet where a percentage of the sales will go to the Richie-Madden Children’s Foundation, which helps bring more opportunities to disadvantaged children around the world.
The jewelery line will be launched and sold on Bebe.com starting November 12.
Richie recently launched her own womenswear label Winter Kate - taking inspiration from daughter Harlow’s middle names - and spoke of her desire to make fashion accessible for everyone: “That was my philosophy when designing House of Harlow 1960, and it remains my philosophy for Winter Kate.”
The origins of Rachel Zoe vintage boho style
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Designers, News
Rachel Zoe created her iconic vintage boho style as a poor teenager.
The Hollywood stylist - who has helped stars such as Mischa Barton, Nicole Richie and Keira Knightley develop their chic wardrobes - was forced to come up with affordable fashion ideas while she was broke. She said: “As soon as I was old enough to shop I fell in love with vintage. When I was younger, as a teenager, I used to ask myself how I could get this glamour for, like, not thousands and thousands of dollars. Ultimately, that answer kept coming back up as vintage. How could I get those vintage fur coats, that peasant dress or kaftan. That’s when I fell in love with vintage. For me, it became the way that I could get that unique piece that no one else could have.”
