Rachel Zoe Wants ‘Beautiful, Wearable Clothes’

Rachel ZoeRachel Zoe wants to make "beautiful, wearable clothes."

The stylist-turned-fashion designer says she isn't trying to compete with couture designers such as Marc Jacobs but instead hopes to create a lifestyle brand.

"The last thing I'm going to do when I come out with a collection is try to be Marc [Jacobs. I'm not trying to make a huge statement. I'm just trying to make beautiful, wearable, tailored clothes. I'm not just launching ready-to-wear--I'm launching a lifestyle brand. I want head-to-toe Rachel Zoe. I want this to be getting dressed with my jewelry, my shoes, my bags, my gloves. I want it all."

Zoe launched her old brand in partnership with global supply-chain-manager Li & Fung Limited last year and says she chose to create her own collection because she felt there was a "void" in the market: "I felt there was a void in what I was looking for, just as a shopper. I wanted to be able to go and buy a beautiful tuxedo or a suit or a great little party dress that wasn't, like, $2,500."

Rachel Zoe Wants ‘Lifestyle Brand’

Rachel ZoeRachel Zoe wants her label to become a full "lifestyle brand." The stylist and designer is aiming for her fashion empire to encompass every aspect of clothing and accessories so people can dress "head-to-toe" in her clothes.

"I'm not just launching ready-to-wear -I'm launching a lifestyle brand. I want head-to-toe Rachel Zoe. I want this to be getting dressed with my jewelry, my shoes, my bags, my gloves, I want it all."

Rachel's debut collection was unveiled in last fall, to mixed reviews, but Rachel said she knows she was never going to start at the top of the fashion chain, and is happy to work her way up. "The last thing I'm going to do when I come out with a collection is try to be Marc Jacobs. I'm not trying to make a huge statement, I'm just trying to make beautiful, wearable, tailored clothes."

Rachel also took the opportunity to continue her long running feud with former assistant Brad Goreski, which has continued for over a year and has seen them both sling very public insults at each other in the press. "All I know is I have the best team in the world. And that's the first time I've ever felt that way. And no, no - I don't think I can watch that," she said when asked whether she had seen Brad's new reality show It's A Brad, Brad World.

Dannii Minogue Admires Rachel Zoe

Dannii MinogueDannii Minogue is a huge fan of Rachel Zoe.

The singer-turned-fashion designer says she really admires the celebrity stylist because she always manages to look good, no matter what she's doing.

"Stylist Rachel Zoe has the most exciting mix of vintage and fresh-from-the-catwalk pieces in her wardrobe. I've learned such a lot about fashion history, designers and preparing for shoots from her TV show. She's a delicate thing, but so powerful - calling the shots and creating this monster brand. Plus, any woman who wears over-the-knee black suede platform boots on a beach while styling a shoot has my heart," she said.

As well as Rachel, Dannii is also a fan of sister Kylie's style - especially her taste in shoes: "If I was going to steal something from Kylie, it would have to be her shoes. She has the most amazing - not to mention extensive - collection, and somehow gets her hands on very special pairs before they hit the mainstream. Her collection is the source of serious shoe envy."

Rachel Zoe Adding to Collection

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Designers, News, Rumors

Rachel ZoeRachel Zoe is launching two new top-secret categories for her clothing line in February. The celebrity stylist - who launched her eponymous label earlier this year - will be adding to the collection but won't reveal what it will be.

"I'd have to kill you if I told you," she said in a video. The range already included ready-to-wear, shoes and bags so it is thought she may branch out into beauty and accessories.

As well as launching her debut fashion range, Rachel - who has previously worked with the likes of Nicole Richie and Cameron Diaz - became a mother to son Skyler earlier this year and compared the collection to "giving birth."

"Being a designer was the thing that I always said, 'I'm never going to do this, because I'm too scared to do this.' All of sudden during my presentation this season, I was like 'Oh my god, why am I doing this, I'm too scared to do this. Then it was like, it was almost like giving birth. When it was over, I was like, 'This is the most exciting, most challenging adventure. This is new, and this is fun.'"

Rachel Zoe Feels Pressure for Clothing Collection

Rachel Zoe doesn't want people to be disappointed by her debut clothing range.

The fashionista -- who made her name as a stylist to the stars with clients including Nicole Richie, Kate Hudson and Demi Moore -- is set to launch her first fashion line, The Rachel Zoe Collection, and is keen for it to live up to expectations.

"I'm a Virgo and I'm more -- I don't want to say negative -- but I'm the girl who thinks no one's coming to my birthday party, no one's buying my clothes, no one's reading my book, no one's watching my show -- that's just how I think. The same applies to this. I don't want to let people down. That said, she made a pointed effort to shake things up. I'd imagine everybody is expecting something from me that's kind of a 70s, uberboho-glam kind of thing, and, you know, very accessorised. And it's not."

Must-Have Miniskirts

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, News, Women, Bottoms, Skirts

Rachel ZoeListen up, ladies! says miniskirts are the must-have fashion item of the moment.

The celebrity stylist is a huge fan of shorter hemlines as she thinks they help flatter figures, but also has some advice for women who would prefer to cover up in jeans: “Mini is the length that’s happening right now. Shorter skirts elongate legs. But if you want most of your legs covered, add turn-ups to a boyfriend jean to expose a bit of the ankle. With a skinny jean, scrunch them up your calves.

Blazers are still big news this season, and Rachel recommends giving them a personal touch, saying, “The sleeves are the boxiest bit, so bunch them up to taper them. Pin a brooch in the back to tighten it up and give it a little bit of flavor.”

As for hair, Rachel - who has worked with a host of celebrities including Cameron Diaz and - advises not going too styled as a messy look gives a great contrast. She told Britain’s Glamour magazine, “Don’t dress like you’re in a beauty pageant - if you’re in a super glamorous gown, mess up your hair a little bit.”

Rachel Zoe Obsesses Over Shoes

Rachel Zoe loves her shoesRachel Zoe has “too many shoes.”

The celebrity stylist, who has worked with Nicole Richie, Lindsay Lohan, and Anne Hathaway, is obsessed with footwear and can’t help splashing out on new pairs.

“I love them, I have way too many shoes.”

Rachel wore a pair of Louis Vuitton Cancan boots, which are thigh-high with laces and a four-inch heel, to the Marc Jacobs show at New York Fashion Week on Monday and revealed that they are her current must-have item.

“These boots, I’ve got to have these frickin’ boots. I love them. And I’m obsessed with them. They take a while to get on, but they’re definitely my favorite boots. Clearly they were not meant for me—on the runway they were on a six-foot model—but I don’t care. I think that’s the whole fun of fashion. You should wear it because you feel like it.”

Rachel is a firm believer in experimenting with different looks and adapting your style to suit the season, but admits that she is always inspired by the ‘60s and ‘70s: “Some of my favorite things are vintage scarves, vintage sunglasses, and great cocktail rings. You find them all over the world at flea markets!”
